Review of “The Palmwine Express “ by Showdemcamp
. The brilliantly talented duo show dem camp started the year 2019 on a great note with their project “These Buhari Times” where they were vocal on the disheartening happenings and dysfunctional times we’re in as a country. They’re closing the year off on an even greater note with the release of “The Palmwine Express “ which comprises of 12 tracks that’re all fresh vibes and are excellently produced by the distinct Spaxclassic. it’s really an SDC or bang matter.
Some ladies can be heard discussing / planning to visit Lagos on the “Intro” featuring Nsisak as they’ve heard of the ebullient lifestyle there, with the voice of an air hostess of Palmwine Express giving instructions on the commencement of the flight to Lagos.
. On “tales by moonlight “ ft the rebel Temsbaby they can be heard singing about the stories that are been fed to us by the government. They can be heard complimenting themselves and their achievements so far on “Alariwo” with conscientious hardwork while steadily inspiring the next generation of artists and setting the blueprint clearly for the artists to follow through with their consistency and ability to remain true to themselves and their sound in their 12 years long career without switching up despite being the underdogs in an industry where most have switched to meet with popular industry demands.
. They all delivered exceptionally on “Good Time “ featuring amazingly talented artists Nonso Amadi & Funbi which proves to be a perfect blend of sounds. The quintessential Lagos vibe tune “In Case” feat Ayo Wani where they’re wooing their lovers and talking about pushing the culture forward & putting their city Lagos on the map as they’re kings in the city while living out their own dreams.
. “Different Case” featuring Alté pioneer Boj who came through hard with his vocal & lyrical finesse on the chorus while they took it off about hard it is finding love in Lagos . The fast rising emerging artiste Buju was enlisted for “Do Me Nice” where he proved with his vocals why he’s worth the feature while they’re flexing about being rap OGs in Lasgidi and pioneering the Palmwine music.
. “Cool Me Down” featuring emerging talent Fasina is a groovy vibe as they displayed their lyrical mastery.
. On “True Story” featuring Grammy nominated Burna Boy who’s had the best year so far in African music came through with his maestro lyrics about his music’s “not a fiction but a real story “ and how it’s more spiritual than physical while SDC can be heard confidently singing about “making something out of nothing” & their 2020 vision being solidified already.
. UK based super talented moelogo who’s a regular feature on their projects delivered exceptionally on “Flex On You” about having a good time while SDC went on about being the best duo in the game right now whilst comparing themselves to the separated legendary duo Psquare who’re blood brothers also sampling old school classics and flowing with names of some female US artists such as Rihanna, MeganTheestallion.
. On “Vibrations” featuring the extremely talented & energetic Tomithomaslos who delivered excellent vocals about being a perfect match with his lover while SDC went about attracting the energy you give out, the mystery of life, about being there for his lover at all times and glorifying his queen.
. “Too Bad” featuring Ghana’s emerging talent Amaarae and Temsbaby is a big vibe that brightens the moment as the vocal synergy’s one of a kind.
The projects solidifies their place in the industry and spearheads their art as their futures is as bright as can be.
