King Daviid is a 20-year-old, Nigerian born multitalented artist based out in Toronto, Canada. While living in Toronto, he discovered his passion for music – he’s been working and perfecting his craft ever since.

The third project in his three-year musical journey, ”STUNNINOSTALGIA”, at its best is a medium for expressing the numerous – stunning and nostalgic thoughts running through his mind, simultaneously on a regular.

The five-track, self-produced EP is a testament to his ebullience, multihyphenate personality, and lyrical dexterity. Amassing notable features from Vonzi, DOA to the World, Banggzwaves, and Dontom to encapsulate the theme of the project.

You can tell, he’s intentional – with narrating the story of his unique experiences, in a soothing way that resonates with several other Gen Z.

Starting off the EP on a reminiscent note, with the Vonzi assisted title track ”STUNNINOSTALGIA”, he’s rapping nostalgically about blissful memories from the past, and how he misses being young. Vonzi raps fluidly, on looking back to the past and seeing how far they’ve come, in spite of other people’s negative dispositions, while “praying everyday cause GOD really made a way”. The record comes together nicely with the catchy hook “STUNNINO-STUNNINO-STUNNOSTALGIA oh”.

They’re emotional and put on the lover boys’ hat on “Broski” featuring DOA to the World; Broski is an infectious tune with great production, albeit there’s a lot going on concurrently – it’s an ode to his girl who he describes as his ”Broski”, steadily expressing his love and affection for her on the hook.

DOA delivered excellently with exceptional lyrics about his love life – “before I met you, I was lonely, used to the think about Ashley and Sophie, now it’s DOA and Naomi”, “Speeding out of town like NASCAR, she out of the world like NASA” whilst providing a much needed rich boost of energy to the record.

He can hear voices on ”Sunlight” and gets excited, hyped up, and most likely inundated with the sound of the music, as he raps asserting ”don’t let me look like an idiot when I put my trust in the sound”.

He’s putting his trust in the music and letting the sound of the music take control.

With a Banggzwaves and Dontom feature, “Dive Classic” is a great blend of sounds starting off on a great note, as they alert listeners; ”you’re about to dive into a 2020 classic” so hypothetically, brace yourself and be mentally prepared to consume a top-notch, classic tune.

Banggzwaves takes the lead, rapping smoothly and effortlessly about his subtle powers as a rapper – ”shower entire armies with the power that I harness”, ”artist and a terrorist” and how he make it look easy “apocalyptic flows make it easy”.

King Daviid is bullish on the track, as he’s predicting his future by creating it “steering my future(stare at my future)” while touting his horn – “look back and see wannabe gangsta, but my track record says I’m the OG Banger”, meanwhile, he’s hypothetically “taking Red Bull’s by the horn”.

Dontom murders the verse rapping sturdily “walking into the palace and they kissing at my feet” praising king Daviid – “nigga did the beat with the lyrics with the patience” and he kills it with cadence, while asserting “never out of ink cause my pen game’s true, that’s the only way I spit all facts(fax) no printer”.

The last track of the project “Whose Fault is it, Mr. Man” sees king Daviid all introspective – “dreams won’t work if. I don’t put the work in”. He raps about informing his parents – he has dreams to become famous, as expected of typical Nigerian parents; they advise him to play the music game as a means to an end, not an end in itself – by shining his light through the music.

He addresses assault as “only hurt men, hurt men”, also narrating the story of his cross-cultural experiences and being a tourist in his home country – Nigeria.

He draws the curtain on the EP; with some deep introspection on his journey so far, and the long miles ahead of him – his daily fight. Whilst using his music as a medium to further pass the message of the “Black Lives Matter” movement.

The BLM movement gained grounds and became widespread globally, due to the deaths of “George Floyd”, “Breonna Taylor”, and a. myriad list of other black people that lost their lives over the years, as a result of police brutality and on the basis of their race, although, he spoke in a rather anodyne manner.

With “STUNNINOSTALGIA” the EP, king Daviid is on a clear path to growth and greater self-discovery, as he’s proven the depth of his thought process, with his lyrics as the transcripts.

“STUNNINOSTALGIA” is an excellent addition to his portfolio of projects.

He’s undoubtedly a remarkable rapper with great delivery and outstanding production skills in his Arsenal. We’re staying fingers-crossed, anticipating what he got coming next, as we’re positive – he’s got more tricks up his sleeve.
